PAGE AADL Presents: INTERNATIONAL MINECRAFT HUNGER GAMES! Saturday, November 21, 2015

A week-long Minecraft Hunger Games tournament open to libraries of all types, all over the world!
Saturday, November 14 through Saturday November 21, 2015.

FAQ: http://gtsystem.org/page/mhg-faq

EACH PARTICIPATING LIBRARY PLEDGES TO PROVIDE
• A NAME for your DISTRICT - (your “district” is your branch, your school, or your library system; districts will be grouped regionally for competition)
• A SPACE for your EVENT - (at least 2 hours at some point during the week up to and including IGD)
• 1 COMPUTER with browser for staff communication - (a chatroom will be used to communicate results and updates - and also for live support!)
• 2 COMPUTERS with Minecraft installed and an internet connection - (or more if you want more simultaneous players in qualifying matches at your library)
• 2 TRIBUTES to represent your DISTRICT - (1 boy and 1 girl! We're doing this by the book!)

EACH PARTICIPATING DISTRICT WILL RECEIVE:
• A DEDICATED, PRE-CONFIGURED Hunger Games Minecraft SERVER in the cloud to run your event! (Yep, we configure it for you!)
• A GTSYSTEM account to keep score and handle registration
• A CHANCE for your TRIBUTES to WIN INTERNATIONAL RENOWN with a SPOT in the INTERNATIONAL BRACKET
• COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS on moderating and running your event
• LIVE HELP from other libraries and event staff via chat during your event
• The ASTONISHED ADULATION of the YOUTH of your COMMUNITY

Whether your TRIBUTES are chosen at the REAPING, or if you have ample VOLUNTEERS, your players will represent your DISTRICT in a series of PVP SURVIVAL MATCHES inside a Minecraft World.
• Last Tribute standing earns points for their District.
• Matches can take place anytime in the week leading up to IGD, but must involve at least TWO DISTRICTS. Matchmaking will be easy through the gtsystem chatrooms. The Districts that have the highest total and average scores will be INVITED to send TWO TRIBUTES on to the REGIONAL or INTERNATIONAL FINALS on IGD!

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO PARTICIPATE
• Register through the IGD form as being interested in this event.
• Book a room at your venue for anytime the week of November 15 - November 20, 2015.
Fill out the IMHG form to get the GT System folks rolling on setting up your account. This will include
1) a four-to-five letter code for your library
2) your library's name
3) what region you're in (check the list from last year here: http://gtsystem.org/IGD2014regions)
4) a district number (you pick whatever # you like – first come first served, so have a backup ready)

You'll receive an email soon with next steps (within the first few weeks of October).

HOW IT WORKS:

Each library will register as a "District" and will receive gtsystem site and moderator accounts. Gtsystem includes the controls to start, stop and monitor your IMHG server. The servers will be available for testing starting November 1, and ready for scoring events the week leading up to the tournament beginning Saturday, November 14, 2015.

You can have up to 32 players on your server at once. Each player needs a computer with Minecraft installed, an internet connection, and a valid Minecraft login. These can be the players' own logins, or logins bought by the library. Once you get logged in on one account, you won't need to switch logins between matches.

Then, on Saturday November 21, there will be a staggered series of final matches in different regions based on timezone.

REGIONAL FINALS:
Australian finals: 21-11-2015 4 PM AEDT (Sydney Time)
European finals: 21-11-2015 16.00 CET (Berlin Time)
US finals are simultaneous
US finals: 11-21-2015 3 PM EST (New York Time)

This year's participating regions list: http://gtsystem.org/IGD2015regions

Please make sure that you understand the timezone differences when planning your events! Each District can send 2 tributes - 1 boy and 1 girl - to the finals. Participation in the finals is also optional. The finals will narrow down the participating field until only a single player remains.... the winner of the second ever INTERNATIONAL MINECRAFT HUNGER GAMES!

We'll provide:
• The Minecraft server for your public computers to connect to, preconfigured and ready to go.
• An account on our tournament system.
• A place in the international competition - a chance for your players to claim worldwide glory!
• Full documentation.
• Live support.

If your team does really well, you'll get a chance for your players to compete against the best other teams around the world! We don't know exactly what time this will happen, as it will depend on what timezone the best teams are in. But we will make it work for the winners!
